Cooking lessons by Zein Bertacchi

Eat with a purpose when you attend cooking classes by an award winning cook, Zein Bertacchi from Barrington. In 2000 nine year old Rishi Sethi from Grove Avenue Elementary School asked Zein to help him feed around 100 people attending chess tournaments she agreed enthusiastically. 24 years later the chess program donated over $222,000 through food sales and youth social entrepreneurship thanks to Zein and an army of volunteers. Children lovingly call her the “falafel lady” as she has won their hearts with her homemade middle eastern cuisine. Many opportunities opened up for the nonprofit program through food services offered at chess events. More about Zein in the news here: https://patch.com/illinois/barrington-il/eating-purpose-nodx
